JMP Group Announces Addition of Ronald Josey and John Newman as Senior Equity Research Analysts

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- JMP Group Inc. (NYSE:JMP), an investment banking and alternative asset management firm, announced today that Ronald V. Josey III and John L. Newman have joined JMP Securities as equity research analysts. Mr. Josey, a managing director, covers the Internet industry, while Mr. Newman, a director, follows biotechnology. Both analysts are based in the firm's New York office.

Prior to joining JMP Securities, Mr. Josey served as a senior research analyst at ThinkEquity LLC, where he focused on Internet subsectors such as e-commerce, online advertising, mobile Internet, online video and online travel. He was previously a vice president in equity research at Barclays Capital and its predecessor, Lehman Brothers, with coverage of small- and mid-cap Internet stocks. Mr. Josey also worked as a business development and marketing manager at AOL, concentrating on product strategy and development. He began his career as a consultant in the communications and high technology market unit at Accenture. Mr. Josey holds an MBA from The Robert H. Smith School of Business at University of Maryland and a BS from Villanova University.

Prior to joining JMP Securities, Mr. Newman was a senior research analyst covering biotechnology and specialty pharmaceuticals at WJB Capital. He previously served in the same capacity at Citadel Securities and Oppenheimer & Co. He began his financial services career at Merrill Lynch, where he served in the equity research department as part of an award-winning biotechnology team. Beforehand, Mr. Newman was a postdoctoral fellow in biochemistry at University of Wisconsin—Madison after receiving his PhD in chemistry from University of Maryland. He holds a BS from Loyola University Chicago.
